Geocache Description:

A regular cache near the summit of the highest road pass in Canada.

The cache is a regular tupperwear container located in a stand of pines not far from the parking lot at the top of the Highwood Pass. An easy walk with minimal impact to the environment. Right at the cache site the gps only had an accuracy of 11m even though it is pretty well open sky. If you wander up this way make sure you have a jacket. Even on nice warm days the temperature at this altitude can be considerably lower than down in the valley.

The Highwood Pass (2,227 meters/7,310 feet), is the highest road pass in Canada. It is located south of the Kananaskis lakes along highway 40. On the way up to the pass, a pleasant detour is Valley View Trail, a five-km (3.1 miles) paved road whose route higher up the slopes of the Opal Range allows views across the entire park to the Continental Divide. The pass itself is right at the tree line, making it one of the most accessible alpine areas in all of the Canadian Rockies.
