Varggropar är vanligtvis från 1700-1800-talet. Väggarna var stensatta eller träbeklädda och gropen c:a 3 m djup för att vargen inte skulla kunna ta sig upp och 5-10 m i diameter. I mitten sattes en pinne med ett lockbete på för att få vargen att hoppa upp och sedan hamna i gropen som då var täckt med granris. Därefter dödades vargen.
Wolfpits were common in the 18th and 19th century. The walls were usually made of stone or covered in wood and the pit about 3m deep, so that the wolf could not get out, and 5-10 m in diameter. A pole with bait was situated in the middle of the pit to get the wolf to jump up and then fall into the pit, that usually was covered with twigs adn leaves. Thereafter the wolf was killed
Den bästa vägen att tar sig fram till cachen är att gå in från Mjösjövägen, strax innan den svänger mot höger.
