A little history on Palestrina, Italy :
Palestrina is a very ancient city dating back to the 7th century BC. The city is centrally located on the Italian peninnsula and is situated 23 miles east of Rome. Palestrina has had a history of warfare, and has changed hands several times over the millennia of it's existence. Palestrina was a German occupied position during WWII and was bombed heavily by American Military Forces.
During ancient times, Palestrina was a favored resort area for wealthy Roman Citizens, and was also a favorite retreat for the famous poet Horace. Modern day Palestrina is a relatively small municipality of 20,000 people and is a province of Rome. Although it is becoming a more modern "suburb of Rome" , Palestrina is still full of historical and archeological treasures that simply cannot have a value placed on them.
