    Have received the bug today in Accra, Ghana. It's my first travel bug and we'll move it up to Wenchi soon. Or to a cache placed in the direction of Wenchi.

    Diabetes seems to be an ever increasing health problem in Ghana and maybe I can get it to one of the organisations concerned with this in Accra and have a pic of the travel bug with them.

    But then, off to Wenchi. :-)

    We were not able to get this TB to Ghana ourselves, but my brother -- we'll call him OldRubberEagle -- who was traveling to Ghana, provided the transport for us. OldRubberEagle, spent some time with his son who is in the Peace Corps, and together they shared the TB with some of his son's neighbors. As he was preparing to return home, OldRubberEagle was able to meet bushratgh, one of the local geocachers, and left the TB in his hands.

    • On the road in Ghana OldRubberEagle with Wenchi Unite for Diabetes TB near one of the ubiquitous cell phone signs along the roadways in Ghana.
    • Kontomere Stew OldRubberEagle's son Andy, a.k.a. LongLeggedFish, shared a meal of kontomere stew with his host family in the village of Dwinyama.
    • Travel Bug or Key Chain? The concept of a geocaching travel bug was difficult to explain to the residents of remote Dwinyama. So, it was agreed to call it a key chain. Everyone was satisfied and enjoyed the chance for a photo opportunity with it.

    It's serendipitous that I found this TB. My nephew is with the Peace Corps in Ghana, and my brother is going to visit him in a few weeks. Neither my nephew nor brother is a geocacher, but I'll send this TB over there for a photo op. There are only 7 caches in Ghana, six of which have yet to be found despite having been in place since 2003 and 2004. It's unlikely that we'll be able to leave the TB in Ghana, but at least it will have a tour of the area.
