I received my travel bug today. It seems to me to be a somber occasion. Travelbugs are usually quirky and lighthearted. But this one seems to have an aura of cause and commitment. It is not something to be lightly tossed in to a cache and then forgotten. It is something to contemplate and consider as I find the right place to start it into the geocache world. My daughter sits next to me as I type the start of this TB’s story, and I wonder what my life will mean to her, if my family history of diabetes will also eventually be my own and potentially hers? Or will things change?
Or maybe it should be a moment of anticipation and light-heartedness-because there is hope of an eventual cure and treatment to end diabetes-not just for me-but for people filled places such as Kisogawa, Japan. Or New Port Richey, Florida. We can only hope…
I hope this makes it back to Kisogawa and has a rich history of places to share with the people who live there.
