OK, received by international mail a nice small envelop containing the the Unite for Diabetes travel bug. It was sent from the US (ZIP 84050). Very interesting, but what should I do with it ? Geocaching is something new and certainly new for me. But I find it interesting to learn more about it. So here I am and I'll give it a try.
So the bug arrived in Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands. It is marked UNJAH6. This is a fairly small town, but definetely a town with with Diabetes research taking place. The bug needs to travel to Satka in Russia. Looking at the Google earth map, immediately shows it is gegraphically a special place: next to the Ural mountains, the mines are clearly visible on the map. It dominates the view from the air. I do not yet know how it will get to Satka, but it will get there. I'll give it a second move. The next person to find it will continue. I'll watch it's progress as it travels and read your logs. If I understand well, I'll get an email whenever somebody finds it. Good luck out there !
Fun ? How can diabetes be more fun ? Hmmm... Diabetes is not a joke at all. But perhaps it does not have to be a pain all the time ? Talking with others sharing the do's and don't's can be encouraging and fun. If you have worked hard to keep in shape that sometimes feels very good and rewarding.
