This travel bug is supposed to go to Otukpo Nigeria and circulate in caches there to raise awareness of Diabetes. That is going to be very difficult since the closest cache is 378 miles away in Mali (three countries away). However, no good challenge should go untaken. So I'll see what I can do.
But first let's get to know our destination. According to the CIA factbook - British influence and control over what would become Nigeria grew through the 19th century. A series of constitutions after World War II granted Nigeria greater autonomy; independence came in 1960. Following nearly 16 years of military rule, a new constitution was adopted in 1999, and a peaceful transition to civilian government was completed. The president faces the daunting task of reforming a petroleum-based economy, whose revenues have been squandered through corruption and mismanagement, and institutionalizing democracy.
Otukpo is one of 19 different government centers located around the country. Otukpo is located in the state of Benue near the eastern border of Nigeria. Tribal influences has made Nigeria very culturally diverse as evidenced by the 250 different languages spoken in the country.
