Kreuzlingen - die „erste Stadt der Schweiz”
Ein herzlich „Willkommen“ allen Cachern von nah und fern in unserer Stadt.
Trotz des oben genannten Stadt-Slogans sind wir nicht:
- Die Grösste Stadt der Schweiz...
- Die Wichtigste Stadt der Schweiz...
- Die Reichste oder Schönste Stadt der Schweiz...
Aber definitiv kein schlechter Platz zum Leben;-)
Kreuzlingen ist einfach die erste Stadt durch Mann oder Frau kommt, wenn Deutschland im Süden zu Ende ist und man in die Schweiz kommt;-)
Wenn man über den Slogan nachdenkt ist der eigentlich ganz sympathisch: Oft unverstanden, etwas frech und vielleicht auch ein bisschen ein Abgenzungsversuch gegen unseren grossen Nachbarn hinter der Grenze (hier gemeinhin als „Kreuzlingen-Nord“ bekannt, was weder dem Charme noch der Wichtigkeit von Konstanz als Einkaufs- und Spassmetropole gerecht wird).

Diese „erste Stadt der Schweiz“ brauchte unbedingt den „ersten Cache der Schweiz“ - der in diesem Fall einer der eher seltenen Chirp-Caches ist.
Ok….dieser Cache ist auch nicht so richtig „der erste Cache der Schweiz“, aber der Erste den man nach dem Grenzübergang hier finden kann;-)
Am besten parkt man das Auto auf den offiziellen Parkplätzen der Zollanlage auf der Schweizer Seite und setzt sich einfach mal direkt auf das Bänkchen bei Stage1. Alles andere passiert dann von selbst, sofern die Chirp-Suche auf dem Garmin eingeschaltet ist;-)
Die offiziellen Parkplätze auf der Zollanlage kann man nur von Deutschland aus erreichen. Einen alternativen (nicht so richtig offiziellen) Parkplatz auf der Schweizer Seite steht im Listing.

Kreuzlingen - the „first City of Switzerland“
A warm „Welcome“ to all Cachers from near and abroad in our City.
Despite this is our city's slogan, Kreuzlingen is not:
- The biggest city of Switzerland...
- The most important city of Switzerland...
- The richest or finest city of Switzerland...
But our city is definitely not a bad place to live;-)
Kreuzlingen is nothing more but the first city you reach when Germany ends in the south and Switzerland starts;-)
If you think about the slogan it’s even kind of taking: not really understood, somewhat bold and maybe a bit of a desperate try to separate against out big neighbor across the border (commonly called “Kreuzlingen-North” on this side of the fence, which is not really appreciating the charm nor the importance of Konstanz as a prime destination for shopping and other pleasurable things).

This “first city of Switzerland” definitely needed a “first Cache of Switzerland” - which is in this case one of the rare chirp-caches.
Ok...this cache is as well not really “the first cache of Switzerland”, but at least the first one you can grab after crossing the border;-)
You can park your car in the official parking lots just in front of the customs offices on the Swiss side. Then just continue to stage 1, sit down and wait a moment. All other things are initiated automatically, provided that you turned on the chirp-feature on your garmin;-)
You can reach the official parking lots only from the German border side. An alternative (not really official) parking lot is mentioned in the listing.
