timbermills: Thank you very much to all who attended and made this event possible. Despite the weather much rubbish was removed and the area looks 100% better. I look forward to meeting many of you again on the trails, and at future events.
Another big shout out to our sponsors for the food and supplies and geocaching prizes.

Geocache Description:

EARTHDAY WEEKEND SUNDAY APRIL 21ST 11AM TO 2PM

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

I was at this location recently for a lazy couple of hours of fishing, and I noticed just how much rubbish was around this location.  With Groundspeak recently publishing the dates for CITO events, I immediately thought of this area.

Let help give back to the community and clean up this area to restore some of its natural beauty. Waitangi encompasses an area of 240 ha. It is where the Muddy Creek, Ngaruroro, Tutaekuri and Clive Rivers meet the sea. Waitangi ranks within the top 10 regional wetlands requiring protection and enhancement as determined by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.

We will meet at 11am at the posted coordinates, I will have a Gazebo set up and have some rubbish bags ready to go.

Bring you own gloves and plenty of water to drink.

I am trying to arrange some sponsership for food, drinks, rubbish bags etc.  If anyone can help with these items or more please make a note on your will attend log and I will update this page.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to meeting many of you at this event.

This event will run rain or shine

There is plenty of parking, bring a bike if you have one as the Trail runs right past this location.  Lots of caches to find nearby if you havent done so already.

If you have any travel bugs that need a new location, I will have an area set up for exchanging, I also have plenty for "discovery" only.

EVENT UPDATE 7th APRIL
