Geocache Description:

While scouting for locations for cache placments I was drawn to the Glenside/Porirua Stream area after noticing the great work that various groups have done towards the revegetation of the stream surrounds

However it soon became apparent that all of this good work was being offset by the actions of a mindless section of the community who insist on discarding rubbish here.

For this reason I have decided that this would be a fitting venue for my first attempt at organising an event cache.


What:
A CITO event cache.

Why:
Because the area is in serious need of a cleanup and this is the opportunity to give something back to the environment from which we geocachers benefit greatly in the pursuit of our hobby.

Where:
Middleton Road several hundred metres south of the Takapu Rd railway station. The actual cleanup zone will be the area between the stream and Middleton Rd and upstream of the debris arrestor.

When:
Saturday the 24th September 2011 between 0930hrs and 1130hrs.

Who:
All are welcome to take part - both geocachers and non geocachers alike. However due to the proximity to the stream and the road it is probably not suitable for the younger geocachers.

You will need to bring:
Sturdy boots/shoes.
Gloves - I will have a small number of gloves available. However if you have your own it would be appreciated if you could bring them.
A stick with a nail in the end may be useful for picking up paper etc.
A raincoat if the weather looks inclement.
A bucket.

I will provide:
Rubbish bags,
Hand Wipes/Sanitiser,
A few snacks and drinks,
Possibly a spot prize or two.
