Geocache Description:


The Team Twitter Trail is a trail of caches around the Peterborough Green Wheel Cycle Network. Caches are placed at regular intervals along 50 miles of cycleways, footpaths and bridleways that circle the city of Peterborough.

The cache is named after the mysterious Alwalton Castle, about which not much is known. It once stood on the site now used as a riding farm (Which may explain the building's appearance) All that I have managed to find out about this, was written on a map from the 1880's, stating "Former site of Alwalton Castle". TTT stands for Team Twitter Trail. The trail came into being after a discussion between local geocachers over Twitter. The Team Twitter Trail is a trail of caches around the Peterborough Green Wheel cycle network. Caches are placed at regular intervals along 50 miles of cycleways, footpaths and bridleways that run through and around the city of Peterborough and surrounding villages. Each section of the trail has been placed by a different member of the team and reflects their own hiding styles. As this is a Green Wheel trail, we encourage you to cycle and walk to our caches. However, roadside parking is available nearby. GZ is currently wheelchair accessible, however due to plant growth, may not remain so. Placed with the kind permission of the Nene Park Trust.
