There is a
stone memorial in between two newly built houses at N 52° 34.228 W
000° 16.905 in the lovely village of Longthorpe. After Mary Queen
of Scots was beheaded at Fotheringhay her funeral cortege is known
to have stayed here while negotiations were carried out at the
Cathedral to have her interned there. Unfortunately only the stone
is left and there is no plaque available to
read.
To
avoid upsetting the locals, we hid the cache a bit further away,
which should also make life a little easier for you when hunting
for it. :-)
This cache is on one of Longthorpe's footpath's and is wheelchair
and buggy friendly. Parking is close by in a residential area in
Holywell Way, so please park considerately. Cache shouldn't be too
difficult to find, but if having trouble, please just ask for a
hint. Please bring something to scribble with as there is not one in
the container for you to use. Enjoy!
