Last year it was Harbor Happening for the SWAG group. This year it
is Fooling Around Swagville that awaits you with all the fun of
last year plus a few new twists. Plans are in the works for 50+ new
caches to be placed and published the week of the event. So join us
for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and caching.
The 2nd Annual S.W.A.G. Event will take place in Jesseville from
8:59 a.m. to 2:11 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011. There will be a
special area set up for the younger cachers with toys, books,
games, and movies to keep them entertained and happy.
Registration will begin at 8:59 a.m. sharp, and the coffee will be
hot and waiting. There will also be hot chocolate for those whom
prefer it. Donuts will be on hand to hush the rumblings and carry
you over to lunch.
You will have the morning to participate in a plethora of
activities before enjoying a meal at 12:02 p.m. Bar-b-que plate
with the fixin's will be available for an additional price if you
wish to eat at the event. You are welcome to bring you own or head
on out for your meal also, but we need a head count for those
wishing a meal from the caterer. Please post by March 27, 2011, if you plan on purchasing a meal and
how many. So far we have the following dinner orders:
flyfishingcachers(2), Likestocanoe(4), Gingerose (1), rexmiller(1),
ARK GOOSE(2), rklmbl(2), mathseeker(1), woodwalker(1),
cardsfans55(4), auctionner(5), trekkin' Arkie(1), ronwhite(2),
normasgirl(2), kd&prettierhalf(2), CFD29(2), Savoy(2), Apache
Scout &Sioux-Zq(2), kksm(2), Dreamcacher V(2), Old Point
Man(2), Arkekey(1), Perm74(4), Specialteacher(1), Aloft23(2),
sjclimber(1), NWANaturals(2), AR-HICK(1), flannelman (5),
Shinnbones(2), and 00shark(1).
A few of the planned activities include:
<>Pocket
Caches<>
We will also have several pocket caches (SWAG style) floating
around, so be sure to introduce yourself to everyone you meet. They
just may be carrying a cache. This is a great way to meet your
fellow cachers. As the girl scouts always said, "Make new friends,
but keep the old..."
<>Camo
contest<>
Dress up a cache and win a prize. There will be two divisions, so
everyone wanting to participate can find the perfect niche for
their cache. The choices are Evil and Fun. The entries for these
contests will need to be turned in by 10 a.m. The top two
vote-earners in each division will be awarded prizes.
<>Kids
cache<>
This is a special cache for those younger cachers. Adults may
locate the cache, also, and log that for a smilie. We will have
that cache container loaded with treats for the kids. There is no
need to exchange swag here. Kids, just take a gift from S.W.A.G and
enjoy.
<> Geo-bingo<>
Get your bingo card when you sign in and then enjoy the fun of
meeting your fellow geocachers. Once your bingo card is completed
bring it to the registration desk for an extra treat. We have all
enjoyed this mixer before, and we expect this time to be no
different.
<>Geo-clue<>
This game may be new to you in geocaching form, but we are betting
that you have played Clue before and have determined who did it,
where it was done, and with what. We hope that each of you enjoy
our version and get into the action with the temporary caches and
solve “Who hid it”? “Where did they hide
it”? And, “what container did they use”? Those
who choose to participate in Geo-Clue will receive the temporary
cache coordinates for this game along with a clue score sheet.
Become a geo-detective by putting together the clues to lead you to
the bonus cache. Geo-detectives will receive mystery prize tickets
upon turning in their completed clue sheet.
<>Travel Bug and
Geocoins<>
Since many of us enjoy Travel Bugs, there will be two tables set up
for those who wish to bring their bugs and coins to trade or share.
Make sure that you check out both areas. There may be a hitchhiker
waiting for a ride to your “neck of the woods” or an
interesting trackable for you to see.
<>S.W.A.G. Scavenger
Hunt<>
The scavenger hunt will be done as only geo-cachers could do it.
This game will involve traveling to some new and old permanent
caches in the area. Instructions will be provided on the S.W.A.G.
Scavenger Hunt sheets. We have added an interesting twist to this
activity from last year. These sheets will become available after
the 1:00 presentation. Winners in this will be awarded prizes at
the Swagville After Dark event.
<>LOL<>
What is LOL you ask? Lots of Logs of course.
That is what you will be writing if you opt to take in this caching
adventure. A caching 'hayride' will be provided by none other than
the likestocanoe gang. For those who have not completed the Main
Haul series you will be excited to know that this is highlight of
the hayride. This activity will begin at the conclusion of door
prize presentations. Although reservation are not required at this
point, we are encouraging people to make note in their "Will
Attends" if they will be taking this caching hayride as
accommodations need to be made. At this point we have these people
down for the cacheride: rexmiller(1), normasgirl(2), CFD29(2),
perm74(4), trekkin' arkie(2), Savoy(2), dreamcacherV(2),
aloft23(2), fishigfool06(1), kksm(2), shinnbones(2), buckshot(3),
and Key-Lores(3).
<>Caching
Trivia<>
Cacher Identification, Little Known Facts, Caching Acronyms
Can you answer these puzzling questions and more? Give it a try
while a power point is playing throughout the morning. There aren't
any prizes… just the fun of seeing if you are correct.
There is no cost to attend the event of course, but prize donations
are very welcomed. Please let us know if you would like to donate a
prize. Remember that no prize is too big or too small - and all are
appreciated.

We hope this caching event will quickly become one of the most
attended in the state. Last year's attendance was tremendous, so
don't miss out on all the fun. Invite your friends, muggles,
cachers, neighbors and even a few enemies to have a great time in
Swagville with the S.W.A.G. gang.
