At the time of cache placement the CO has been waiting, somewhat
impatiently, for the arrival of his third geocaching assistant
Toby. So what better place to plant a cache, and hopefully a fun
one for kids to hunt for, than somewhere that has an excellent
short walk in a pretty spot with a small ruin to explore.
Second Beach seems to be a little known spot just along from St
Clair beach. There is not a lot of information available online,
other than a few entries that point out there was once a gun
emplacement on the cliffs above it. But it is a wonderfully
peaceful spot to visit. The track is wide and well graded - perfect
for buggys. On one side of the track you have beautiful bush and on
the other the rugged seashore.
Accuracy was 3 metres when the coordinates were taken. The cache
is a micro so you will need to bring your own pen and there is no
room for swag or Travel Bugs. It is located at ground level very
near the wall and is not visible from any distance. A little bit of
searching may be involved but it is not a needle in a haystack -
but what is it they say..."Geocaching, where you are the search
engine". Be careful of the trees surrounding the wall (they have
pointy branches) and of sticking your hands in holes. Of course
these two things are often good places to start when finding a
cache.
