Take a nice stroll down the river to visit this cache there is plenty of wild life you just have to look as you walk to GZ.

Thorpe Meadows


Thorpe Meadows is located at the eastern end of Nene Park where it meets the city. Access is via the A1179 roundabout on the approach to the city. The network of footpath/cycle ways around Thorpe Meadows links with routes in Nene Park and the city.

Free Parking is available in the car park on the approach to the Rowing club opposite the Ramada Hotel. Please be aware there is a 2m height barrier across the entrance to the car park OS sheet 142: TL 174 985

Rowing
Thorpe Meadows contains the second purpose built rowing course in the country. The course is 1100 metre long and has a club house at its eastern end where Peterborough City Rowing Club is based.

The Club has a strong interest in introducing young people to the sport and hosts the biggest Club regatta in the country on the course.

All ages are welcomed whether interested in recreational or competitive rowing.

Sculpture
Much of the Peterborough Sculpture Trust collection is sited in Nene Park with the majority of pieces in the sculpture park at Thorpe Meadows on the south side of the rowing course. Widely recognised as one of the best collections of contemporary sculpture in the country it includes pieces by well-known Artists such as Sir Anthony Caro, Lee Grandjean, Miles Davis and Antony Gormley as well as lesser-known Artists.

Wildlife in Thorpe Meadows
Although close to the city there is an amazing variety of wildlife to be found around Thorpe Meadows.

Ducks and Geese like the rowing course and nearby on the river is home to Herons, Cormorants and even Kingfishers.

There footpaths towards the city link to the Board Walks Nature Reserve.

Helicopter Landing
The area of grass between the rowing lake and the Hotel is occasionally used as an emergency helicopter landing site to transfer casualties to the nearby district hospital. Please do not obstruct the landing site or access road.
