Located in southwest Saskatchewan, the SaskSkies Geotour will take you on a journey through the vast and varied landscapes of the Cypress Hills Destination Area. Walk through native prairie grasslands where bison still roam in Grasslands National Park. Visit the forested hills of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Fort Walsh, the birthplace of Canada’s Northwest Mounted Police. Discover natural wonders, the old west, dinosaurs, fabulous food, and how to fly through the trees (though not necessarily in that order). See for yourself why we say – “It’s time to explore.”
Many scenic treasures tucked away on either side of the Trans-Canada Highway await discovery. South of Maple Creek are the beautiful Cypress Hills, where you will find the highest point of land between the Rockies and Labrador. The provincial park here is home to a forest of lodge pole pines, rare wildflowers and abundant wildlife including cougars and more than 200 species of birds. In the southwest, more reasons to turn off the highway include:
- Fort Walsh National Historic Site
- T. rex Discovery Centre at Eastend
- Great Sand Hills
- Lake Diefenbaker
- Grasslands National Park
- Tunnels of Moose Jaw
- Temple Gardens Mineral Spa
Just about anything goes in geocaching. One of the few rules is that you have to sign the log to claim the find. If you don't have a pen with you, or you can't find a small spot to scratch something in a full log book, please don't claim the find. If you don't sign the log, your find will be deleted. Sorry
