Geocache Description:

The Tower was probably built soon after 1264, and the tower added in c1300. The wall paintings in the tower, the most complete of their kind in Britain, were probably commissioned before 1350. The manor house belonged to the Fitzwilliams from c1500, and the tower, the only part open to the public, was presented to the nation in 1947.The most important feature of the tower is the wall paintings in the Great Chamber, which entirely cover the walls and ceiling.

Unfortunately our first cache at Longthorpe Tower was spoilt by someone. So we have had to move the cache to somewhere safe. As it is a bit further on from the original location, we have had to create a mult-cache instead.

The cache is on public land, so there is no need to trespass on private property. Please make sure the cache is secure & out of sight when putting it back.

If attempting this in the dark, a torch for the final location is recommended. The cache is wheelchair and buggy friendly up untill the final 10-20 feet (approx).

The final co-ordinates are exact, however, due to tree cover, when we were at GZ, the GPS was reading plus 3 - 5 ft .

The above co-ordinates will start you off in front of the big sign at the entrance of Longthorpe Tower.

Questions to answer:

A = Looking at the big sign at the entrance, how many pictures of the Tower are there?

B = How many times is the word “Longthorpe” mentioned on the sign?

C = What age do they start charging for a child?

D = From the top of the sign, how many letters are in the 6th word down?

E = The number of times the word “Tower” is mentioned on the sign?

F = Walking up the path passed the tower (tower on your right), you will see a black iron gate on your right with a house number. What is the middle digit?

Final Co-ordinates are at:

N52.34.ABC W.000.17.DEF

The cache itself is a plastic tub slightly larger than a 35mm film canister, only enough room for small swaps and a log book, please bring your own pen/pencil as there isn't one in cache.

Contents when placing:

Logbook
Cache note
Geokid Geo coin

Good luck everyone - happy caching! :o)

Well done to Handymoo for FTF and Christhenix who just missed by 15 mins!
