Left in the dark... (night-cache) Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

The Hancock Clan: Sadly this one has to go as the reflectors have all melted away. Surprisingly the final cache was only slightly melted but the fake hand had seen better days. We decided to reuse the cache and found a nice 'fun' location for it nearby. Thanks to all the finders of this cache, we loved reading the great logs! :)

Geocache Description:

A night only cache in bushland teeming with wildlife covering about 5km...or possibly more!?

You will need a bright torch and several spare batteries. A map of the area may be helpful although it is not essential so long as you don't get lost. We also recommend that you enable track recording on your GPSr if you have this feature in case you need to track back at any time.

At the starting co-ordinates you will find yourself at a track junction. Shine your torch and look for a reflective marker. These are what you will be following in order to find the cache.

It is VITAL you use the correct technique to light your way. You MUST hold your torch next to your head at eye level so that the light reflects back to the retina (head torches are ideal). If you don't, the markers will not be effective and you may get lost. If you don't see anything at the starting co-ordinates then don't bother to continue. If you do see it, then carry on down the track with it's occasional markers.

Eventually, you will reach a double marker at another junction, where you will become "Left in the dark...".

You now have a 50/50 decision whether to go left or right. It's a fair distance to the next marker. How far will you go before you think you need to turn back?.

Once you've picked up the markers again, keep following them until you come to a triple marker. This is where you need to start your search. When you have found the container, you will need to follow the instructions inside to get to the cache. There are also instructions on how to get back to the start line easily.

Please note, there is no need to deviate off of any tracks until the hunt for the final cache location. Good luck and enjoy...
