Rabenklippen 555m über NN
Ihr steht hoffentlich an den Rabenklippen.
Begebt euch auf den Aussichtspunkt und genießt die Aussicht.
Bei gutem Wetter kann man den Brocken mit seinen 1142m Höhe sehen.
Der Aussichtspunkt besteht aus Ilsesteingranit.
Währen der Öffnungszeiten des Restaurants http://www.rabenklippe.de/frame.html ist der Aussichtspunkt von beiden Seiten erreichbar sonst nur von einer (dort wo die Bushaltestelle ist).
Der Felssporn besteht aus rotem mittel-körnigen Granit "Ilsesteingranit" einer der Granitvarietäten des Brockengebiets, von dem nur ein kleiner Teil in den Westharz rüberreicht.
Der Ilsesteingranit unterscheidet sich von den anderen Granitarten dadurch, das er eine kräftige Rote Farbe hat und leicht verwittert.
Der Gehalt an Quarz und Kalifeld im Ilsesteingranit ist höher als in den südlichen Gebieten des Brockens.
Granit ist ein Mittel- bis Grobkörniges Erstarrungsgestein, das sich in einigen km Erdtiefe aus einer zähflüssigen Gesteinsschmelze von ca. 700°C durch Auskristallisation bei langsamer Abkühlung bildet.
Granit besteht aus speckartig glänzenden, rundlichen Quarzkristallen.
Der Boden, der aus der Verwitterung von Granit entsteht, ist gut durchlässig, nährstoffreich und leicht sauer.
Schön zu Beobachten ist am Ilsesteingranit die sogenannte "Wollsackbildung"
Diese entsteht dadurch, das durch die Verwitterung die Kanten der Granitblöcke von den Klüften ausgehend zunehmend gerundet werden, wobei lockerer "Granitgrus" entsteht. Dieser Grus wird durch Wasser abtransportiert, zerkleinert und gerundet, die Felsspäte und Glimmer werden zersetzt. Dadurch bildet sich nach und nach Sand.
Unterhalb des Aussichtspunktes steht eine Tafel der Geologischen Wanderpfade Nordharz wo noch mehr Informationen stehen.
An den Rabenklippen ist ein Projekt zur Auswilderung des Luchses im Harz entstanden, wo man Samstags Luchse bei der Fütterung sonst nur mit Glück beobachten kann (ich hatte Glück).
Stellt euch auf den Aussichtspunkt und macht optional ein Foto von euch mit eurem GPS in der Hand und dem roten Ilsesteingranit im Hintergrund (siehe Spoiler) und beantwortet mir diese beiden Fragen.
