Geocache Description:

Hitchcock’s Mystery Cache is located in Hitchcock Woods, Aiken, SC. This is a maze of interconnecting trails stretching over twenty miles; located within a 2000-acre forest. It is a unique forest in the midst of an urban area. Visit their website: www.hitchcockwoods.com The trails are clear and easy to walk. (You are the proverbial mouse seeking the cheese.) Plan to hike from 2-6 miles round trip (2-3 hrs) depending on your orienteering skills.

The original cache was "removed" approximately in June, however as of August 24, 2003 we have placed a new cache (with new contents - see below) in the original cache's location. We appologize for any inconvenience.
Your challenge will be locating the cache on the map with the information provided and then plot the shortest route to the cache. Begin your hunt at the intersection of SC118 and Dibble Rd. across from Cold Creek Nursery. Travel East .5 miles and you will see a radio tower on the right side of the road. Parking is located behind the tower. The entrance is at (N 33.33.201/W 081.46.100) This is one of seven entrances to the woods. Maps are located at each entrance. The cache is in a black ammo can.

This area is owned and maintained by the trustees of the Hitchcock Foundation. Please read and follow the guidelines printed on the back of the map. They ask that you stay on the trails so that the natural ecosystem may be preserved. The trails are for walking, running and horseback riding; (dogs on a leash are permitted.) Bicycles and motorized vehicles are NOT permitted.
