Bull Creek (Otago) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

U.N.C.L.E.: As the cache requires maintenance I will archive it. Am reducing my involvement in geocaching after all the abuse I have received in the forums of the NZ Recreational GPS Society for reporting a bad cache to DOC because wildlife was at risk so will archive my caches as they come up for maintenance.

Geocache Description:

Bull Creek is a little settlement of holiday cottages on the coast near Milton.

This is a family-friendly cache at a nice spot with a picnic table in a sheltered location near the start of the walking track (don't be fooled- the walking track proper starts a bit further on than the car parking area).

The cache is a black-painted one litre snaplock hidden at ground level and not visible from any distance. A dense bush canopy makes GPS reception variable so I have provided a free hint below as well as a more explicit encrypted hint.

Bull Creek is said to be named after one or more bulls who used to wander the area in the early days of European settlement here.

There are two ways of getting to and from Bull Creek. The first is via SH1, turning off at Milburn or Milton (signposted). The other is Akatore Road which skirts the edge of the Akatore forest and starts/finishes at Taieri Mouth. This road is well-maintained gravel for about 25km.

Free Hint: Approx 10 metres above the walking track.
